"A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet" By Becky Chambers.
Its a very good book about a newcomer on a tightknit small spaceship where half the crew is aliens plus an AI in the ship. Not a challenging read, but good for the alien interaction stuff.
She also has a sequel out, which I found just as good as the 1st, though it only follows one of the characters from the first...sort of.
