Maybe Kavanaugh is a potential rapist. Or maybe he just used to be one in high school, when drunk and trying to impress his friends. Many of us did stupid or evil things in high school.
Maybe this allegation is simply a malicious Democratic political slander designed to derail his nomination. That cannot be ruled out. It is also possible that it is not an official, malignant smear carried out by the Democratic Party, but a clandestine dirty trick carried out by some rogue activist group operating independently, for their own reasons. If pro-lifers are capable of assassinating doctors and bombing clinics pro-choicers are certainly capable of character assassination. Yes, that is possible, too.
Maybe it is a case of unfortunate but honest mistaken identity, perhaps the victim was indeed attacked by someone as she described but she has a imperfect recollection of who it was.
The point is, I don't know, and it may be impossible for anyone to ever determine what actually happened with any certainty, and that both the alleged victim or the alleged perpetrator, or both, will not receive the justice they deserve. It is also possible that even if Mr Kavanaugh is totally innocent, it is possible the resulting investigation and publicity will damage his reputation and lead to his nomination being delayed or rejected. Then again, it is highly possible that if he is guilty of the charges, he will still be nominated and appointed because there is strong support for the political policies he is likely to advocate on the bench.
The items you list in your post indicate that regardless of Kavanaugh's guilt or innocence, his supporters simply do not care. Anything that can be done to discredit the accuser, or hide the evidence, or excuse the crime, or brush it under the rug, is allowable. It is how he can be expected to rule on the court that really matters to them. It is the only thing that matters to them. Nothing else matters to them. Of course, they will do whatever it takes to advance his nomination.

My personal, possibly biased, opinion is that I don't know.
The whole thread (20 posts)
- Conservatives prepare to rape woman a second time...
- The only way the GOP gets out of this without further damaging their already deeply damaged brand...
- I certainly hope the white male voice is not lost on this issue...
- It's debatable now which side is raping her
- It is telling that only one side wants witnesses interviewed and the FBI to investigate...
- And so it begins
- Kavanaugh should consider himself lucky.
- If true, I'd like to see him go down
