These so-called results are trivial compared to what's at stake. Trump thinks he can wipe away generations of mistrust and animosity in a few hours just by bringing his charm and magnificent intellect to bear.

But history amply demonstrates that establishing peace for our time can be a damn tricky proposition, and people sometimes whisper sweet nothings not because they love you, but because they need to buy time.

Trump's a fool. Kim knows it. Putin knows it. The world knows it.
