Maybe its a cut and paste error?
Here's an alternate way to do it:

Highlight the URL in my post with a left click
Right-click and select the "go to" option.

Its one extra step for you, but it makes it easier for the poster than the "underline" trick.

I can never remember the command for automatic "link to", so I have it written down in my "notes" file. When I want to "link to" automatically, I have to find and open the notes file, copy and paste the command line into my post, then copy and paste the url and text strings into the empty slots in the command line. Sometimes I get lazy and don't bother, or I do it and make a typo anyway.
