Everything you state may well be utterly true, but the politicians who have built and shielded the Executive Branch for over 240 years have already set the defense of any impeachment trial. That's why Congress can vote for their own pay-hikes. They haven't, but don't forget the power is still there. Job security is what politicians do.

They pretend the impeachment is all fair and just, but the votes are all sealed in-house regardless of opposing poling projections. All they have to do is keep lying until after the've been reelected. The biggest thing in Trumps's defense is the precedence of a guilty verdict on thin allegations (yes, thin, hear-say and opinionated), which would chip at the Executive Foundation, be it Republican, Democrat, or Independent.
