Starting time is dicey here. We've four trays of starters already. Plant outside before Mother's day and we are tempting the weather gods for a freeze and snow.
No termites here. Use gravel or growstones made from recycled glass.
Have more than one type of tomatoes. Same with potatoes. They are micro climate sensitive and it can take a while to find the best breed. If Ireland had more than a monoculuture there may not have been a famine.
Pests? Soapy water, Neem oil, diatomaceous earth.
Also, mycorrhizae fungus. Helps roots absorb nutrients. You can get it from any garden place.
