Technically, Rittenhouse was innocent of murder.
Technically, he did shoot in self-defense. And if I had been on that jury I would have been compelled to vote for acquittal.
But the fact remains, this slimy little racist piece of shit did cross a state line with a deadly illegal weapon (it was purchased for him by an adult when he was only 17). His purpose was to intimidate and (hopefully, from his point of view) kill or maim "niggers and nigger-lovers", to put them in their place and show them who is boss. As Trayvon Martin showed us, only white gun thugs are entitled to stand their ground. And he got away with it. And in the future, he will benefit from it.
I know this personality type, I was brought up with this kind of Confederate turd, I know who they are and how they think. They know what they want and what they need to do to get it, and they know just what they are ready to do if they don't. They are just itching to have an excuse to shoot someone they don't like, for the purest religious and patriotic motives, of course.
Even if this situation never repeats itself again, and even if the law comes to its senses and puts a stop to it, the fact remains; from now on every demonstration and protest will be accompanied by strutting little self-righteous punks, their deadly weapons proudly and menacingly displayed in carefully studied and meticulously copied combat infantryman poses. This is the true cancel culture: a deliberate use of violent threat to stifle dissent.
The Klansmen don't even bother to disguise themselves any more.
