But she is up and walking around... these days appendectomies are done with very small incisions and minimal trauma...with Omicron spreading in the NYC are neither of us are thrilled about the extra exposure we got, but both of us had the booster shot recently... It very nearly was a lot more serious... the appendix was in the early stages of rupture when it was removed.
Apparently there is a fairly new antibiotic protocol you can do that will allow you to put off surgery for a few weeks or months- the doctor presented it as an option based on what he saw on the CT scan- I am glad we didn't attempt to go that route- the infection was a lot more advanced than was evident on the CT scan.
She is fine, just very sore, I am fine but just very very sleep deprived, our dog is back home and completely ecstatic we are both here with her again... I probably have a few hundred emails I need to catch up on but too exhausted to do that today, so will probably do it tomorrow.
We were already starting to look at buying a second car to replace the one that died during the pandemic, I guess this drove home the necessity of doing that sooner rather than later.
My wife is one of the founders of the local 'Time Bank', and there is one member that offers the service of searching and finding the perfect car for your needs and then helping negotiating the price... she is someone that seems to genuinely enjoy that process... she has already found us a few options, amazingly quickly... if you have a time bank in your area I urge you to look into joining it... the concept is you bank hours of service to other time bank members... no one's time is more valuable than anyone else's - someone can earn hours helping with yard work, and then spend those hours getting legal advice from a lawyer.
I earned a few hours making some 3d animations for a few websites and then spent them getting bike repair, assistance on a wood-working project, and having a few special meals prepared... It is a great alternative economic system that is very egalitarian. 1 hour of raking leaves can allow you to get 1 hour of financial or legal advice. There are time banks all over the world.
