I know some Time Banks set up tutoring for students during the pandemic- I don't think there was much in the way of background checks- since it was all virtual the risks were somewhat lower...

In general it is a way for adults to exchange services with other adults- for instance we have gotten rides to and from the airport through the time-bank, help with the yard work, financial advice etc...
