I've talked to a lot of Canadians and have seen things.
And from what I can gather, the province next to us, Alberta, is the equivalent of the American old south.
When I said Canadian attitudes mirror the US, it's fairly litteral. Mainly liberals on the Left and right coasts and Conservatives in the middle. But each province has its own spectrum just like our states.
