I'm not

I'm not

What's the point? I've taken a few precautions; I have a couple of weeks food and water in the house, I have plenty of cash, the cars are gassed up and I've had all our prescriptions filled and there are batteries for the radios. We've done the laundry, and the pistols are cleaned, lubed and loaded. When the party starts, we'll take a shower in case the water gets cut off. Other than that, what can you do?

We can handle an interruption of civilization, but not its abrupt cancellation. So we're as ready as its possible to be, if the level of risk is about what I expect it to be: negligible, but not zero. Maybe its just because I'v had a good, long life, but I'm not too worried about all this. Every single one of us faces his own individual apocalypse eventually, this is just one more way it can happen. Sooner or later, the world comes to an end for every one of us. Same as it ever was.

What do I THINK is going to happen? In my opinion, the end of the world is possible, but not likely; at least during my lifetime. And if it comes, there's not much I can do to prevent it. I'm a good sailor. My ship is in good shape, my gear is secured, my provisions topped off, my crew is well trained, I keep a sharp lookout and an eye to weather. But I also know if the sea is out to crush you, it will, no matter what you do. I knew that when I came aboard.

My advice: take a few reasonable precautions, but don't panic. Sit back and enjoy the show for as long as you can.
