I fully understand that in the event of a sizable nuclear exchange the wisest thing to do is get to ground zero before the detonation....
But, well, I am human and married...
What shelter and preparations I have made presupposes the house isn't obliterated or set aflame- I am 17 km from the white house and 3km from a military research lab... so odds of riding it out at home are not good... to put it mildly.
But the fact remains even a moderate number of nukes will likely crash civilization and agriculture- billions dead within a year. Survival really isn't all that desirable, given what would follow.
