It does have its benefits but it’s not utopia.
Pretty much the whole country is at risk from tsunamis, the north island has dangerous volcanoes, we get large sharks in the waters and the storms on the South Island that come up from Antarctica have to be seen to believed. Plus on the South Island it’s not unusual for people to live in tiny places with a lot of bachs which are empty a lot of the year and so there’s isolation. In some communities there are many social difficulties. It’s extremely expensive, job and career opportunities are limited and you can forget being able to afford a house.
Who you know is very important when it comes to career opportunities, racism is not hidden..people will openly make racist comments, houses are lower quality with less central heating and are often wooden construction but when you live on an exposed hillside you notice it a lot .
And sandflies. Praying mantis. Huge spiders who love living indoors. Possums who outnumber people. 14 million possums per capita.
Stay in the US !
It’s not as perfect as it may look from the outside.
