I don't know just what drove him off.
At first, I suggested he was actually a Liberal pretending to be a Conservative, and acting like an asshole in order to discredit Conservatives. The ultimate "false flag" operator, or "black propagandist" (the term used to describe propaganda pretending to be from the other side, and deliberately designed
to make your opponent seem barbaric).
He joked about that, but when I accused him of being on Putin's payroll, and posting not with any particular ideological conviction, but just to sow dissension, just as a mercenary. he quit posting altogether.
I have no way of supporting either hypothesis, but I'd bet my left nut one or the other was right on target.
