You have a point.
There is always the tendency to lean over backwards to try and 'even up the playing field' for any group that has been treated unfairly. But sometimes it is taken too far. You're right, not only does this extreme behavior generate unnecessary hatred from the bigots, it also causes problems for the more moderate and reasonable members of the marginalized group in question.
Still, it will always be a judgement call, and who are any of us to tell others how to behave reasonably? I don't like rap music, its musical content or its major themes and tropes. In some cases, I think it is grotesque and dangerous. But I'm not sure I would like to ban it, either.
