CO2 is tough.
Its a very stable molecule, I doesn't break down naturally, unless a lot of energy is forced into it. Its not going to go away without a fight. Plants do it, but they have to harvest a lot of sunlight to get enough energy to break that chemical bond. Its basic chemistry, you need as much energy to separate Carbon from Oxygen as you release when you bring them together with combustion. We can do it too, with electric arcs, lasers and nuclear reactions, brute force. But that takes a lot of energy. Unfortunately, there is no way, its physics. You don't get something for nothing. We can't invent or spend our way out of this one. We have to pay the price in energy.
