I really tried to give that book a chance...
It was so hyped because it was a Chinese author, but it was so unbelievable, with what was effectively magic brought in to advance the plot... I barely was able to force myself to finish the first book of the series... the only thing I found compelling about it was the flashbacks to the cultural revolution...
