But I can understand how its former victims might
have second thoughts about it rearming and repeating its 20th century militarism. The same can be said for the Japanese, who lately seem to be exhibiting similar behavior in response to Chinese expansionism.

The last time these two had to be put down it took a racist and genocidal America, a brutal and vicious Soviet Union and an unapologetically arrogant and imperialistic Britain working together to do it.

Its not necessary to resort to national stereotypes to explain this type of collective human behavior. It seems to be programmed into genus Homo--especially in times of global stress. And sometimes the only effective response to pure evil is just more of the same.

We are, by nature, a nasty species.
