You are right about the dangers of "crony capitalism" (businesses using the power of government to serve their own ends.) In Atlas Shrugged, half the bad guys were businessmen.
The answer is not forcing us into a system that even further merges business and the government, but to go the other way.
You're also right that many businesses like the idea of their company and the politicians being in each others pockets.
So let's fix that. You have no problem with the idea of using force on businesses for socialist ideals. Why not force the crony capitalists to move towards a more competitive economy?
