You will note no one, not even on the Right, not even Gingrich, has brought it up lately.
And no, Conservatives are not necessarily Neanderthals, however, their phony populist rabble-rousing machine has been systematically courting them, passing themselves off as the honest, working class Right so valiantly struggling against all those rich limousine liberals and elitist country club socialists.
One of the major crimes of the American Right has been to deliberately woo the fascist, fundamentalist, racist, nativist underbelly of American society and enlist them as its shock troops.
