Perfect assessment.
I find their use of recycled elements more and more of a let down. This week it was the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid / Romancing the Stone jump off the top of the waterfall stunt. At least the Johnny Weissmuller dove headfirst.
And a few threads ago I pointed out that they resurected the "Newt" character from "Aliens". I was kind of stoked because I thought it might have been a tribute to one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever. Now it doesn't look like that's the case. Probably just another rip-off.
I've also seen enough velociraptors cunningly hunting humans with the Jurassic Park trilogy. In the name of creative license they increased the size of the raptor about 150% to make them even scarier. In fact they created new conglomerate dinosaurs because they thought they would be more interesting. C'mon, terra nova isn't another planet and I'd wager the the viewers know the difference.
And then there's the little girl, hearbroken that the baby Ankylosaurus was going to be released. She tried to hide it in her coat and was taking it to "somewhere" in the gated complex we she got busted. Then when they took her into the wild to let it go, an adult Ankylosaurus came out from the thick vegitation about as soon as the cute little bugger hit the ground and nuzzled him. What are the odds?
I don't know, I think Sci-Fi fans are more discerning and critical than most. Best not to jerk us around.
