You think it is a waste of paperwork to trace the chemistry of a piece of steel through the entrire production process all the way back to the ore and the mine that it came out of...just so that you can sell those widgets in Europe and trace it back 3 years from now when one part in tens of thousands fails under warrantee... I say Certify this. Certify that. Every manufacturing operation should adopt NASA-like paper trails, proceedures, and systems. After all, it keeps a lot of Engineers busy.
