<I know some Democrats who at one time would have done serious bodily damage to someone who hinted they might be communist. They happened to be off enduring some extreme discomfort ostensibly fighting communism, and they were Democrats. Voting, very liberal, some of 'em even Black. Would have resented your implication.

Okay, I'll explain it yet again. The average Democratic voter is not a socialist, is usually quite patriotic, and since he has a life, probably never gave his political philosophy any more thought than he had to.* The current leadership of the Democratic Party and a number of the associated elected officials in high positions are, for all intents and purposes, socialist. There are more than a few people in current positions of power who were American communists years ago, and haven't changed much. Red diaper babies.

Needless to say, they attempt to project a different image to the voters. Watch what they do, not what they say.

You make an interesting point about warning Saddam. Could be a way to flush something out. We'll see.

*Most real socialist voters vote Green, not Democrat.
