This alleged act was an event in an isolated village in Pakistan. Do you think it would have ever hit the light of day had it been tolerated by the area or country? Had it been the normal or usual practice? What is it that made it news?
Religious extremists starving a kid to death or promoting the rape of a woman are clearly aberrations wherever it happens. "Their" rape and "our" starving are both not OK, and it's hard to understand how anyone can say "theirs" is representative and "ours" isn't.
