They invited this professor/authority on asteroids. Conan expressed concern that we were not ready to divert or destroy such an asteroid and also felt that it was too early to tell if indeed this asteroid would hit us. Conan asked if there was anything we could do to stop the incomming rock from hitting us.
The professor assured Conan that Bruce Willis & Co. could do the job, the Space Cowboys would be too old in 2019,(laughter and applause from the audience) and if they were not successfull, that there was a bright side in that intelligent life would return to Earth in the form of apes, such as those featured in the film Planet Of The Apes (that one didn't get as much laughter). Conan then expressed outrage that they had let a phony professor be a guest in the show.

Of course, the professor used Conan's tv set to show stills from the movies as visuals.

You had to have seen it and you had to have been tired to LOL.
