The poor guy can't draw his way out of a sack, but that isn't his fault. He wrote me that if anyone could whomp up a decent 3-D model, to run with it. I may give it a shot. A gothic-type fan vault treatment near the top would fit well with the basic modern-Gothic facade of the old WTC. I like his idea of the base being the same as the old one, except of course they would be side by side instead of staggered.
One or two intermediate bridges on the way up, designed on a gothic "flying buttress" theme, would be appreciated by the tenants and make the structure stronger, but may break up the overall "arch of triumph" theme.
The top needs some work, too. Designing an open area at this height that would not be windblown and/or dangerous yet still allow views will be tricky. A perimeter wall for people near the edge compensated by an elevated central area that would allow views from areas away from the wall would be easiest. A lot of trees around the edge would help with the wind.
