...and it was not just a matter of being out of the body floating around or some such vague thing - but I could tell the doctor (an oral surgeon) what had happened (he hit a blood vessel with his drill) when I awoke almost 2 hours later.

I was not anywhere near dying - but It was very important they stop the bleeding. One nurse was panicking and the doctor was shouting as she raced to get some equipment to burn the vessel closed from a nearby storage area (best I can recall it was much like a soldering iron) I was not emotional at all as I saw it all happen.

The doctor was freaked out that I could know what had happened. But he did indeed confirm that a vessel had ruptured and caused a minor "complication" during surgery.

My brain was not misfiring at all. I didn't just twiddle my thumbs in an astral plane while some doc is working on my bleeding unconscious body.

That paper is flawed. Consciousness and the brain are separate. The quantized field has no confinement when it is not "oscillating" simply with neurons.

Even if one believes that even when we are unconscious we are conscious to a degree - there are still far too many things I perceived I could NEVER have perceived through my five senses, from the location of the equipment in an adjoining hall and storage area and other details.

White light is simply energy. I too perceived a white light around the whole room. This is because the whole room is oscillating energy. People think this is heaven of some sort of paradise - but really energy oscillating higher than atomic elements to our "field's eye" is white when we look outside our normal spectra. When one is not limited to a fixed spectra of interpretation, the physical atomic realm is just one range one can observe in an ever greater energy scale.

Many of these OBEs are very likely seeing with their inner eye to a degree. Any interference with someones brain may likely trigger OBEs - but not because the brain is responsible for creating them, but rather because they have disrupted the oscillation of the field with the neurons -allowing it to escape momentarily. Indeed I can predict they will get a lot of false positives if they tamper with the brain, but the OBEs will be caused because of messing with the flow of the signals, simulating death.

The Skeptics Society and folks like Shermer are unfortunately the mirror image of the Mars Face folks and the Moon Hoax crowd - they are equally imbalanced. They deny things they cannot yet comprehend with the same imbalanced fervor as the folks denying the earth is round or that men walked on the moon. Skepticism is a good trait to have - but when it gets blown out of proportion one becomes unable to perform the duties of an effective scientist.

Sometimes one must admit that we do not have all the answers.

It is becoming clearer that the brain is just a glorified "ultimate" shortwave set - sending and receiving huge quantities of signals at incalculable rates.

We may wish to tie up the loose ends and unanswered questions quickly - but even Galileo's discoveries were just the beginning of an unending and ever greater task of wondrous discovery.
