Democrats against one-party rule. Yeah, right.

What makes this article such a milk-out-the-nose belly laugh is the rank hypocrisy of a leftist wailing about the dire prospects for our nation of single-party rule--but somehow only when it's the opposing party.

To a man (or woman), Democrats have been delighted at the prospect of their party holding absolute unshakable power in Washington, and should a Democrat be elected President, and the Democrats take over both Houses, people like Wasserman would be delirious with joy. And of course, the next item of business would be to insure liberal judges on the Supreme Court to make the hammerlock complete.

Republicans finally took both Houses of Congress for the first time in forty years in 1994. Prior to that, Democrats had controlled both Houses, and during the Presidencies of Johnson and Carter, solidly controlled two of the branches of government. Somehow, we must have missed all the concern from the Left about "unchecked power" back then.

Democrats controlled both Houses during the first two years of the Clinton presidency, and again I must have missed all the liberals wailing about the resulting loss of our democracy.

An exercise for the student: During those years when Democrats controlled the Presidency and both Houses, during how many of those years was the Supreme Court considered conservative? Extra credit for locating any quote from a liberal cautioning us about their own solid and unshakable control over all three branches of government.

Another exercise for the student: Assume the President is a Democrat, and the House of Representatives is controlled by Democrats. Now, try to visualize a Democrat in a Senate controlled by Democrats by a one-seat margin, switching parties to prevent the Democrats from having "too much power." You can stop when your head starts to hurt.

Lindy, you can't be serious about this article. You're no idiot, and the flaming hypocrisy of such statements has to penetrate even the solid wall of denial you can put up.
