<Do they really know how people live over there?
Do they know even why the Kurds are so hated?*
Is it just anti-Americanism or anti-semitism which makes them defend the Iraqi dictator?
Where did you get all this from? When have I defended Saddam?
And yeah, I had a clue about the Kurds. It's more than that, too.
Nevertheless, it's hard to dance in the streets if you keep tripping over the corpses.
McFly's initial post was inspired by an article about occupation, which is a Bad Idea.
And, actually, the "Punch an Uday show" pun was not only very cute (it got a smile from me), but entirely consistent with the overall theme of occupation.
How you equate this with anti-Semitism is beyond me. But...
If we're going to keep inappropriately replaying WWII, let's not stop with the surrender of the Axis powers, but continue with the policies of the Allied occupiers and their local supporters. What happened to the young Jewish adults who survived the camps and had the audacity to return to their homes in eastern Europe, hmm? How many of them were murdered for the property their neighbors, now good Allied supporters, didn't want to return to them? When it became obvious they would receive no protection from the occupation forces, who deterred them from seeking safety in the only place they could think of to go? Who shot at the refugees to Palestine before ever the Arabs there took up arms against them?
And what do we learn from this? Occupation brings brutality of a different sort. I wonder if the intent of the perpetrators matters very much to the families of the dead.
If it were all black and white, it would be so simple.
