<My vote.
I had one of these as an 18, 19 and 20 y/o. Mine had been built in 1944 by Ford, and was a Shore Patrol vehicle travelling aboard an aircraft the CV 9 USS Essex. It was in perfect shape, white with red trim, and tires exactly as in the picture. The tires I had never did wear out, but weren't all that great on wet pavement.
Due to all the radios it carried there were about 14 miles of wire and an enormous 6V generator and voltage regulator. That voltage regulator went out when I had it, and it was cheaper to replace the generator, too, rather than that voltage regulator. As I recall, it was $54 for a new one.
Great vehicle. Beautiful, fun to drive, though top-heavy, and prone to coming up on two wheels in a sharp turn. Guaranteed to thrill a date! And it really had only two-wheel drive, as there was no limited-slip differential. Could lock the transfer case, so there would be at least one front and one rear wheel driving.
I broke the rear axle on my way to work one day, shifted it into four-wheel drive, and had a very rare American-made front wheel drive vehicle. Drove it that way until I could afford a rear axle, which was months.
I haven't thought of that vehicle since Monday, when I drove past the place where I wrecked it. What a kamikaze couldn't do, I finished. Sad. Never underestimate the destructive power of a young American male.
