And I didn't even mention Germany's far more ambitious Sanger "skip bomber" idea. (Also known ominously as the "Amerika Bomber." Personally, I think the world had kind of a close shave in WWII. Had just a few things happened differently, some of us would have seen our finest hours as bars of soap.
