I could list a lot of articles and quotations here, but I think most of you are aware of this as well as I am. Has anyone noticed that the Left has painted itself into a corner? Examples abound in Europe, Hollywood, and elsewhere, but I just wanted to point it out in one specific area: American politics
The Democratic Party has positioned itself so that it can gain politically only if something bad happens to America and Americans.
Foreign policy, economy...you name the arena. The Democrats can succeed over the next few years only on the back of American failure and disaster. Economic growth, greater employment, success in Iraq...all would be bad for the Democrats in 2004.
Whether this is due to clever maneuvering on Bush's part, or more likely, to the tendency of the Left to run straight down the rails of its agenda, even if the rails lead off a cliff, is arguable. But there it is.
Oh, you can yell and complain about this. But it's true.
