My son is laid up with a bad leg, and is watching the Jurassic Park movies. I had forgotten how cool they were, and also forgotten how much the "There Are Some Things Man Was Not Meant To Know" message irritated me, especially as constantly harped on by the resident Jeremiah played by Jeff Goldblum.
Cripes, if I had a chance to clone dinosaurs, I would do it in a New York minute. As for the dinosaur escapes, any engineer could easily design an effective passively fail-safe paddock even after an all-night beer bender. I thought of several simple concepts while I was watching the movie for the first time.
A number of scientists are talking about recreating mammoths. I wish them the best of luck...not only would the world be a better place with mammoths in it, the techniques may someday resurrect other recently-extinct animals.
