Beware the left-handed pitcher, for he will nail most of your batters if he's any good at all.
Beware the left-handed batter, for he can really hit off of your right-handed pitchers.
Bowser is right, and the specific representative body was the National Assembly during the French Revolution. The Royalists sat on the right and the Jacobins sat on the left, and the moderates (people like Mirabeau), who were trying to build a government rather than establish a philosophy-based state, sat in the center.
Statistically, there are more right-handed people than left-handed people. The current estimate indicates that about 10% of the total population is left-handed. To characterize left-handers as weak or timorous is, I think, unfair. If there is strength in numbers, it only stands to reason that the left wing (if constituted only of left-handed soldiers) would be weaker than the right regardless of the skill or courage of its members.
On the other hand, to remain left-handed in the face of social disapproval (ranging from being "changed" as children to being burned for witches as adults) and increased difficulty at work (as tools, books and furniture are all designed for the majority) indicates an independent spirit, an adaptable mind, and a willingness to go it alone.
