Remember bringing democracy to the Afghanis?

Womens rights?

Rebuilding? Schools, hospitals, roads? There's a couple of show items, but check the budget.

Life is lived forward, my friend, and it's understood backward.

What the Afghans have is a President protected by American Special Forces, lots of warlords, peace-keepers from France, Belgium and Germany and - - - -.

Well, by golly, that's about it. (Some maroon here a while back pointed out that Kabul is free, or something like that. Wow!)

And where is the democracy, the womens rights, the rebuilding as promised by GWB? Well, he said in Japan that American destroyed the country, it's up to ROW to rebuild it. That was after it was over.

Where are the Americans? In Iraq, promising more democracy, rebuilding, etc., etc.

The difference is that Iraq has oil, so there will be some show items in Iraq, sort of like Saddam's palaces. And Halliburton will have some show office buildings, too, sort of like Saddams palaces. And Halliburton execs will have some show homes, sort of like Saddams palaces.

When there's a meaningful effort to keep the promises to the Afghani people I'll let up on your nose.

Sigh. Mine is sore, too. I have a cold.
