Re: Not all English-speakers are white

Hi Mary Anne,

When did I say that all English speakers are white? You seem to have forgotten my CA background. I have Vietnamese, Iranian, Lebanese, Nigerian and other friends, many who speak english as well as I do - some better!

Leave it to you to connect the racist dot all by yourself, even though it was on another page of the coloring book. Are you preoccupied with that or something?

Leave it to ME? I am preoccupied?

Were we even reading the same article?

Highlights mine to accentuate where I "connected the dots."

Britain's support for Bush is a huge setback for Britain's role in Europe, as well as for Europe itself. In Asia, the war is viewed as at best unwise at worst brutal and racist. Australia's participation strengthens the perception that its loyalties lie with whites, the West and Anglo-Saxons in particular, not with Asia. Australia conspicuously did not consult Asian allies and neighbors.

What dots needed connecting? They outright insinuated the war is "viewed" as a racist, white endeavor.

As for my reference to the "lefties" please show me an article, ANY article from the International Herald Tribune that has a "righty" or conservative slant.

I didn't need to connect the dots, they painted a wall mural and could have easily titled the article:

Brutal, Anglo-Saxon, English Speaking, Imperialist Whites are Warring on the Rest of the World Again!

Suggesting I am obsessed with racism after responding an article that refers to racism, is just more of the same ol' "righties are racist" innuendo.

When I read articles like this that come right out and plant the idea into uneducated minds that the US , Britain and Australia are engaged in some form of a racist war - well like my title above, I find such reporting unbelievable and totally irresponsible.

These journalists would love to turn this into a racist, imperialist war of aggression and would like nothing more than to see the US, Britain and Australia crushed under a sea of hate from the rest of the world.

That is what should sadden anyone, left or right.

PS
Incendiary comments from me? You must have me confused with a European journalist.
