Took me a while to realize which John this is, and that he's addressing me. Bit of a nonsequiter there, John. The convention on the Zone is a bit more formal, in that people begin a thread at the beginning, expressing a proposition or a point of view, establishing premises, citing a source such as a news article or editorial, and generally creating a standalone basis for further discussion.
If you confused me, imagine how it hit the Zoners! If I hadn't jumped in here, they'd be posting messages over on the Community board alerting me to a technical malfunction!
