Well, yes, history does cover this quite well.
My interest in finding the article isn't because I doubt the wisdom of keeping your troops fed, but rather because of the retired general concluding that "their only hope is to holdout until reinforcements arrive". I'm interested in taking a second look at the article so that I might be better able to assess its credibility and that of the general.
If you saw the same article, perhaps you could shed some light on how to find it.
