Grow up and get a life. Stop criticizing other people's values and belief systems that actually have some MERIT behind them. I admit, EXTREMIST FUNDAMENTALIST forms of Islam infringe upon the rights of many people, but so do EXTREME FUNDAMENTALIST forms of Christianity and many other religions. There are many Muslims, the vast majority of Muslims in the world that do NONE of the things you mentioned in your posting. And in Western Democracies such as that of the United States, one of the huge values is the freedom to practice religion. The United States was founded on the idea of religious freedom.
Subjecting women to near slavery conditions?? How about the Multinational Corporations supported by the United States government and business interests that support the establishment abroad of sweatshops and factories in Free Zones such as in Jamaica that provide no legal benefits to women and are more SLAVE LIKE than any Islamic practice today. And although female genital mutiliation does occur in a small portion of the Islamic world, efforts are being taken to stop that, and it is largely NOT practiced in Islam... in fact it is not even mentioned in the Qu'ran. The only PRIMITIVE people that western democracies need to be worried about are closed minded ignorant people who cannot take the time to educate themselves about people who are different from them, and instead prefer to criticize and slander other cultures. As for your "Be modern or be gone from here," I suggest that you turn that phrase upon your self, because the world is advancing and becoming more culturally aware and open to new ideas. It has no place for the closed minded bigots of the past.
