I don't plan on going to live on Mars. I plan on the technology derived from Martian colonization and space commercialization to protect my risk averse behind and those of my descendents back here on Earth. Simple concept. Don't know why you have such trouble grasping it.

Perhaps you have no descendents and are worried solely about your own mortality, so thinking long term is irrelevant to you. Perhaps that is why you are so focused on the more likely events in frequency terms which have very little impact on the overall fatality rate expected from impacts.

As far as vacations go LEO, Hawaii, Cancun, and the Moon sound sufficient to me.
