Hello Larry J -
Bad pain, and a lot of it has to do with pain managment and the tools available for pain management...
Physicians who are also skilled pilots are few in number. NASA had also started to invest in Dr. Robertson's training.
We're seeing a recurrent pattern of loss in flight activities. Flying takes a lot of time; so does training and other tasks - it looks like Dr. Robertson was well on her way to being NASA's Flight Surgeon, maybe the physician on a manned Mars flight.
As it sits now with GA flying also takes a large amount of money... The exact nature of this crash is important... I could understand Dr. Robertson wanting to examine a new type of plane...But Kim's comments indicate that she had access (partner in ownership) of a citabria... What happened?
NASA is losing astronaut candidates (all fine people) and their training investments in these accidents
I need to get back to my work now...
