There's a large gap between the number of Christians who believe Christ will return "someday" (part of the basic faith) and those who believe in the specific timeline of the "Rapture," an idea that became popular in the 1970s with Hal Lindsey and other authors. A strict reading of Biblical canon declares that nobody can or will know the actual end time, so if you're a consistent believer, by definition anybody who says they do should automatically be full of shit.

I have never attended any church or Sunday school in my entire life, man and boy, where the specific Rapture scenario (with the features you list) was taught as part of our beliefs.

Of course, other more fundamentalist churches may be different.

This is kind of a small sampling, but it'll give you an idea of the prevalence of this. It's not strictly accurate either, since "end times" is pretty vague on details, and Rapture beliefs are a subset.
