Hopefully more folks will realize that NMD will be needed in the future. It may take 15-20 years to develope a dependable system and by that time our lives may depend on it. It needs to be done with as little fanfare as possible. We can deal with EU and the Russians when it is ready for deployment.

Most of the objectors say that the WTC attacks demonstrate that we don't need NMD. My God, can't they see that many of the countries that harbor terrorists may have ICBMs in the future.
