Mars 3 - first picture from Mars

Raoul Lannoy — 9/27/2001 4:27:49 PM (archived)

There is an interesting debate (on the friends and partners in space BBS) about who took the very first picture from the surface of Mars. I saw on BBC, 2 years a program about the "Planets". It looks like Mars3, way back in 1971, barely took a picture right after landing and before shutting of (there was an unavoidable storm).
The picture is the second one.
