Yeah, I remember the grief you got, and how completely disconnected was the charge of "anommie-symp" from the neutral reality of what you actually said.
Funny, the way I originally wrote that last paragraph, it read, "Who knows, any old amateur could discover it, statistically probably an anomalist." But I didn't want to raise that red flag. 'Course, the danger with the more "dedicated" anomalists is that they'd shoehorn the discovery into the alien mythology, and it might be overlooked. But maybe not, and it's the hope of those serendipitous discoveries that keeps me watching the passing parade of anomalism.
