56 new NEOs in one month! 16 > 1 km! It appears the additions of a second LINEAR scope and the Oschin scope at Palomar are finally having a big impact on discovery rates.
Something strange however. If you check the sites below you'll see LINEAR (#704) is back to its old dominance after a brief period where the new Palomar Oschin (NEAT #644) scope dominated and LINEAR slacked off. It appears from the numbers alone that LINEAR was having problems and Oschin picked up some of the slack.
My question is why hasn't Oschin kept up the pace? Is coordination so poor that Oschin is scanning a lot of sky that LINEAR gets to first? Can anyone explain the drop in LINEAR discovery rates during the summer?
