The robot derisively referred to "tame" robots on earth as "Asimovs".
The robots learned to bop, and instead of slavishly building goods on luna for human colonisations, set up their own society and sold things to earth at the highest profit margin possible.
The name of the book is "Software".
It is not always easy to find but is totally awesome, as is the whole series.
