the Mediterranean Sea: Algeria, Yougoslavia, Cyprus, the Middle-East, Basque area, Corsica, etc...
But why?
Western countries have colonized all northern African countries and there is still a lot of resentment towards us, there.
What could happen is this: if the Middle-East conflict gets worse, Israel will be tempted to invade all of Palestine and face other Arab countries like Syria, Jordan, Egypte, etc.....They have one ally: Turkey. Turkey is the only "southern country" that had never been colonized by western countries, and Turkey is a "democracy" and belongs to NATO. The Kurds would of course not like any involvement in favor of Israel.
At the same time, the US is having a bigger and bigger problem with Saudi Arabia. What if the Saudi population overthrows the regime in favor of a fundamentalist Islamic regime? Will the US come to help the few rich princes against a large majority in favor of fundamentalism?
The problem is: the Islamists are certainly becoming more and more anti-western because of Israel's unwillingness to give Al Aksa back to them; what if, for the sake of the Saudi princes (and the sake of oil), the US gets to (even indirectly control) Mecca?
