Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.
"Genesis types" - those folks who use the Christian Bible to justify Mankind doing any darned thing they want without regard to effect.
By extension - someone who has an overwhelming sense of negation if anything they want to do is limited or checked - someone with little or no impulse control or able to tolerate delayed gratification. (Now, the last two paragraphs are not THE WORD, but one observers opinion.)
Now, you know and I know that nuclear power is a, if not THE, rational solution to many of the problems the US is having, including water. And I know, at least, that radioactive waste can be transported and stored safely. I know the spotted owl is NOT a species and should not be protected. I know much of the fringes of environmentalism is nonsense - and at the core it needs to be more of a factor than we are currently used to.
In my opinion Man is not, at his present level of activity, doing the environment or other species any good, and more should be done to mitigate our damage. Maximizing profit and dividends should not be the only consideration of reasonable peoples, and in some societies it is.
We are NOT the only cause of climate changes, and we DO contribute. The Conservative view seems to be simplistic - some one thing is the cause and it isn't anything Man does. Therefore Man need not do anything.
