Re: The Survey Results Are In

The poll is a self selected one of people interested in space. As such it is not a scientific poll of public opinion. It is however unreasonable to assume that space fans have some radically different opinion than the general populace. Do you have any basis for such a claim? The proportions may change some, but a difference of this magnitude is unlikely to disappear.

Your claims for funding are also bogus. You may read what you want to into the question but it was "Choose five of the following missions that you think are most important for space agencies to accomplish in the next decade." That means Mars is a near universal top 5 priority while a over a third did not include the Moon as a top 5 priority at all. A question more along the lines of 1 which assigned a relative ranking should be used to allot funding based on your logic. Based on the responses to question 1, it is obvious that Mars hits on most of the top priorities compared to the Moon and would likely get higher relative priority.

Are all opinions different than your's cults? I find it strange to assign cult status to Mars supporters for their stances based on priorities in line with most of those expressed in the survey.
